If you don't have sidebars go to view and enable sidebar. Go to 'File' and choose 'Connect to Server'. You can now choose which type you will use. Choose ssh, and add your remote server, port to connect to, and user name. Connect. You File manager will now connect to the remote server, and you will see it in your sidebar.
